THE REASON TO CARRY A KNIFE

To always be armed with any sort of weapon gives anyone a better chance of facing a threat against someone who has one. It can serve as an equalizer. Although chances of survival gets lower when you're up against someone carrying a more superior weapon than what you have. still, it is way better than none. And besides you'll never know when you will have to need one.
