FMA IS A WARRIOR'S MARTIAL ART

To apply a successful bargaining position, a sweep, throw and takedowns are usually employed to flatten the opponent to the ground. Then control by immobilizing through dominant positions and applications of pinning, trapping and locking are required for this purpose. Although it is much harder to do when the opponent is armed with a weapon because it adds another factor to situations where you have to be more aware of the possibilty of getting cut, lacerated, severed or punctured (knives, broken glass, saw, ice pick etc) or shot at if it's a firearm. Yet bargaining or arresting positions are usually or rather important (especially for police enforcers and civilians) in order to avoid unwanted or unnessary scenarios that one may end up with if the other gets seriously hurt or killed. It's a thin line between wasting your life inside jail or lucky for you if you have a good lawyer who could help you out during the aftermath. Although we have demos of showing the techniques of how kerambits, daggers, machetes are used in its intended martial application it doesn't mean that it is our philosophy. No, first and foremost we always believe in running away from any trouble especially when one's life could be put in danger most especially when love ones or friends would also be involved. Now if you can't run away then talk your way out of a situatuation if you can. If not then defend your self at all cost. And depending on the gravity of the situation then you decide how far you can inflict pain or controlling the degree of pain against the assailant (assuming if you were able to control the situation). I have heard from others that FMA is just a killing art. No it's not. It can be used for that purpose, that's for sure especially under the wrong hands. But FMA is far nobler than that. It wasn't created for that purpose. It has higher principles and philosophies than that. Because it is a warriors martial art. Not an ordinary crimanal's fighting method.

It's probably easy to say just kill. Well, be sure that indeed you have the right reasons for it. Dont get carried away by the old adage: "It's better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6" For there are times that you have to think before you act. If not then prepare your ass to be violated in jail.
